BYD announces global reduction of more than 80 million tons of CO₂ emissions into the atmosphere

The amount is equivalent to planting more than 1.3 billion trees and reinforces the company's commitment to reducing the Earth's temperature by 1°C.

BYD has announced that, by January 2025, the company has already managed to reduce the emission of 80.3 million tons of pollutants into the atmosphere by offsetting the equivalent of planting more than 1.3 billion trees. The calculation is based on how much the company's products have stopped polluting since it entered the market 30 years ago around the world and over a decade ago in Brazil. This represents an increase of 3.8% since BYD's last announcement in December 2024.

The initiative reinforces the company's commitment to establishing sustainable mobility, with technological and ecological products, to help reduce global greenhouse gas emissions and thereby help cool the Earth's temperature by 1°C. In addition, BYD's sustainable approach is incorporated into all stages of the production chain, as well as in the contracting of its suppliers. The company sets targets and guidelines in order to reduce environmental impacts as much as possible throughout the production process. This includes implementing initiatives aimed at preserving water resources, promoting clean and affordable energy sources, developing innovative and sustainable technologies, reducing resource consumption and waste, combating climate change and strengthening strategic partnerships.

BYD sees a promising future for urban mobility with the mass electrification of vehicles, driven by its market leadership and record sales. In Brazil, BYD actively participates in the Green Logistics Program Brazil (PLVB), a strategic initiative that demonstrates the company's commitment to corporate social and environmental responsibility. The program aims to capture, integrate, consolidate and apply knowledge with the purpose of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, especially carbon dioxide (CO₂), as well as reducing atmospheric pollution. In addition, the PLVB seeks to improve the efficiency of logistics and cargo transport in Brazil, through the progressive development of a national sustainability program in logistics.

At the forefront of sustainable mobility around the world, BYD is the first and only company in the world to deliver a complete new energy vehicle solution for different transportation market segments. This includes the company's strategy of offering the integration of various sustainable mobility solutions, including electric cars, buses, trucks, rail transportation systems, as well as photovoltaic modules for solar energy. This approach allows BYD to offer a complete ecosystem focused on reducing dependence on fossil fuels, as well as demonstrating the company's commitment to offering sustainable technologies that contribute to a cleaner and more efficient future in cities.

"We are committed to increasingly sustainable mobility, with technological products to help reduce global emissions of polluting gases," says Alexandre Baldy, Senior Vice President of BYD in Brazil. "For BYD, sustainability is the foundation on which we build our commitment to the world, and that's why our cutting-edge products and technology strengthen our role in the transition to a more sustainable future, both in Brazil and on the global stage," he concludes.
