With more than five years of operations in Brazil, BYD Energy continues to make history. Its unit in Campinas (SP) has reached the significant milestone of
two million photovoltaic modules produced in the country.
This comes shortly after the company announced the production, as of next December, of a new high-tech product that is more advanced than any already sold on the domestic market: the N Type TOPCON photovoltaic module with a power output of 575W. The new launch has important and innovative features that make the product more efficient and durable, taking into account that it generates more energy in the same area as a smaller module.
"The milestone of two million photovoltaic modules demonstrates our contribution to consolidating the distributed generation market. BYD Energy is one of the main players in the solar market and has invested heavily in the country. Our products have cutting-edge technology, and bring innovative solutions in sustainability and clean energy, one of our main differentials worldwide," says Tyler Li, president of BYD do Brasil.
In April this year, BYD Energy do Brasil inaugurated a new photovoltaic module production line in the country, located in Campinas (SP). The new facilities received a complete overhaul of their equipment and processes, adopting the latest technology available in Brazil and abroad, such as Multi-busbar, half-cell, 1/3 cut cell, micro-gap and negative-gap. As a result, the company began marketing a complete new range of high-power modules, both mono and bifacial, ranging from 450W to 670W.

The new line has also made it possible for the factory to be compatible with all the sizes of photovoltaic cells currently available on the market, with great gains in productivity and efficiency. As a result, it is now possible to laminate and encapsulate conventional or double-glass modules. The expansion and transformation of production processes has enabled the company to triple its capacity to 0.5 Gigawatts, enough to supply a city of 750,000 inhabitants.
Another important milestone also achieved by BYD Energy in April this year was the five-year anniversary of the start-up of the Campinas (SP) factory, where it began producing photovoltaic modules. Since then, despite its short time in the country, the company has gone from strength to strength and is now considered to be one of the leading brands engaged in research and development of sustainable technologies in Latin America.
"This result of two million units produced, added to the recent inauguration of the new production line and the new solar cell research laboratory, strengthens and maintains the group's leadership in the country, not only in volume, but also in cutting-edge technology," says Adalberto Maluf, Marketing and Sustainability Director at BYD do Brasil.
Photovoltaic modules provide energy independence and great savings, with an excellent cost/benefit ratio. They are easy to install, have a long service life and low maintenance. As well as being a clean and renewable source of energy, they come with a 10-year product guarantee and a 25-year performance guarantee. They are financed by BNDES and Finame and can be used in urban and rural areas, industries, commerce, homes, condominiums and power stations.
Marcelo Taborda, sales director, highlights the result as a counterpart to one of the largest clean energy companies in the world, which has dedicated efforts to generation, storage and distribution. "Through equipment such as photovoltaic modules, converters, lithium batteries and electric vehicles, BYD has consolidated itself as the only company capable of providing all the solutions in a single brand. This is a very special moment not only for BYD, but for everyone who believes in the photovoltaic segment and has renewable energies as inspiration for their business."
